Get Involved Volunteers at OLA range in age from 15 to 80 and do everything from playing with preschoolers to tutoring 8th graders for their high school placement exam. Some come once in a while. Some come once or twice a week. Volunteers are needed to read to preschoolers, tutor school-age children, mentor children who would benefit from spending time with a caring adult and share hobbies, such as cooking and drawing, with small groups of children.
Volunteers with specialized skills such as carpentry, maintenance, electrical repair, data entry or graphic design are also needed from time to time.
All volunteers are subject to a criminal background check, as the safety of our children is our first priority. All volunteers must be willing to take a 3 hour workshop offered free throughout the diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph called, “Protecting God’s Children”. For more information about becoming a volunteer at OLA email us or call 816-931-1693 and ask for the principal.
