My name is Erin Blevins, and this is my third year teaching 4th Grade at OLA. This is my fifth year overall teaching in the Diocese, as I spent my first year teaching 6th-8th Grade Science at Holy Cross. I graduated from Rockhurst University in 2004 with a B.A. in Political Science and minor in History. In May 2010, I received a Masters of Education with an emphasis in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction, also from Rockhurst University. I strongly believe in the benefits of Catholic education and feel privileged to extend my role as student and product of Catholic schooling to the role of teacher and leader for students and OLA. In 4th Grade, my focuses rely heavily upon “reading for meaning” and “number sense.” I seek to improve students’ independent reading levels as well as develop deeper understanding of mathematical operations and concepts. I believe Reading and Math are paramount to ensuring success in other subject areas. Additionally, I believe in educating the whole person, as an individual, while encouraging life-long learning through engaging, real-world applicable lessons and activities.
