“Do small things with great love.” – Mother Teresa
My name is Sue Hoffman and this is my fourth year teaching first grade at OLA. I am married to Stephen Hoffman and we have two sons. My oldest son, Justin, is in the United States Marines and is stationed in Okinawa, Japan. My younger son, Chris, lives in Lawrence, KS and attends school at Johnson County Community College. I enjoy spending time with my family and when time allows, reading a good book.
I attended Donnelly College and Rockhurst College, where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education. I enjoy working with children and have always believed that all children have the right to a quality education, regardless of race or economic status. I look up to Mother Teresa and try to live by her quote.
First graders are busy learning to read and enhancing the growth they made in kindergarten. They practice their addition and subtraction math facts; gain a deeper understanding of Jesus; learn about their communities and practice simple science experiments. We practice our handwriting and counting, learn the months of the year (in English and Spanish) and practice our socialization skills. First grade is an exciting year!
